📍 Homes around Cannon Beach

Strolling down the historic cottage-lined streets of Cannon Beach is like walking through a fairy tale — especially if that fairy tale is fairly reminiscent of the 1985 cult classic, “The Goonies.” While we’d typically discourage you from peering through a trellis or two to catch a closer glimpse of these dreamy cottage gems, on Sept. 13, everything changes. 🪻 For one weekend, historic homeowners are opening their doors to the public to show off their quirky seaside architecture, well-tended gardens and coastal-inspired interior charms.

Returning for its 22nd year, this fall’s Cannon Beach Cottage Tour will take you through the scenic Tolovana Park neighborhood (an area that hasn’t been featured in years). Take yourself on a personally paced, self-guided amble and meander into quaint cottages and enchanting seaside properties alike, all while learning about Cannon Beach’s rich history along the way. Just follow the path laid out by the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum (the museum itself is home to the original cannon that gave the town its name) and you’ll consider your stroll well spent.

“The Cannon Beach Cottage Tour isn’t just about architecture. It’s about the heart and history woven into every corner of these homes,” says Cannon Beach History Center & Museum executive director Liz Scott. “Each one tells a story of Cannon Beach’s past, and we’re honored to help share those stories with our community and visitors alike.”

But the tour is more than just a walk through beautiful homes — it’s a full weekend celebration of history, design, music, food and community. Opening night kicks off with a benefit bash featuring vibrant live music by Gayle Ritt and Mike Soto, mouthwatering bites from local favorites like Rainy Day Boards & Bakery and the Chocolate Café and drinks poured by The Wine Shack and Pelican Brewing Company. After Saturday’s tour, wind down the weekend on Sunday with a cozy, creative beeswax candle painting workshop and tea service (with locally sourced honey and treats). 🍯
