Pacific Northwest summers are legendary for a reason — with a sun that never seems to set, bustling breweries that lap against lakes and paddleboarders, kayakers and bicyclists alike commenting that, once again, “the mountain is out.” 🍺🚴🏽♂️⛰️But there are few things as iconic as the ever-present smell of warm blackberries growing wild and rampant in the height of the summer season. 🍃
This summer, celebrate the PNW’s favorite fruit in style at the Blackberry Festival. Over Labor Day weekend, Bremerton Boardwalk (just steps away from the Bremerton Ferry terminal) will play host to this family-friendly event. With more than a dozen lively musical acts (spanning genres from R&B and soul to a Santana tribute band), magicians, jugglers, craft stations and a “chalk alley” to bring out your inner artist, there’s something for everyone to seriously entertain — and we haven’t even mentioned the blackberries yet.
Interested in a sweet treat? Try a blackberry cannoli, crepe or macaron. Ready to cool off? Blackberry soda, shave ice or lemonade are here for you. All about ice cream? The Blackberry Festival has four different blackberry varieties to choose from. Want to tell your friends you tried something outrageous? Consider blackberry pork belly burnt ends or a peanut butter and blackberry hotdog (yes really🌭). There’s even blackberry wine to sample. Even better? As you wander the waterfront, check out the blackberry merchandise, from soaps and candles to art, apparel and more.
“Where else can you dance on a waterfront boardwalk, eat everything blackberry and shop local all in one weekend?” says Sunny Saunders, event producer of the Blackberry Festival. “The Blackberry Festival is Bremerton’s biggest summer party — and the perfect getaway for anyone who loves food, music and a little Northwest magic.”
The Blackberry Festival is the Pacific Northwest’s premier food festival, highlighting the sights, sounds and flavors of Puget Sound.
