What does it feel like to mix heavy metal, soft acoustics, and electropop? Well, I donāt know either, but Beabadoobee makes it work.
The music made by Beatrice Kristi Laus, aka āBeabadoobee,ā a Filipino-British singer-songwriter with a stage name that sounds like a jazz adlib, is a blessing to all. Her artist tag originated from her finsta (fake insta), mistakenly believing that nobody would listen to her music. Her first guitar song, āCoffee,ā became a radio hit and exploded on TikTok (where youāve probably heard the remix with Powfu).
āCoffeeā sounds like fall had a theme song, and it was my first intro to her. The muted guitar, angelic voice, repetitive chords, and catchy chorus proved to be a successful combination, and itās my go-to song this November, with at least 5.2% of the Spotify plays being me.
In the past, her music seemed to swing between bedroom pop, punk-rock, alternative indie, and even folk. But with her new album Beatopia, sheās able to blend all the genres together to produce a sound thatās true to the finsta name. Tickets are bound to sell out soon, so buy quickly.
