In the world of prog rock, there’s a rich history of the full-on all-encompassing concept album. From classics like Rush’s 2112 and Yes’ Tales from Topographic Oceans to more modern-day masterpieces like The Mars Volta’s Deloused in the Comatorium or pretty much everything Coheed and Cambria touches, the genre tends to be the perfect outlet for fantastically nerdy, world-building deep dives. Seattle’s Avenue East carry on this tradition with their immersive science fiction story of two heroes Ace and Indigo, the main characters of their 2022 EP of the same name.

And this is just the beginning. In a recent radio interview, the band assured me they’re continuing their ongoing story of these two and their intergalactic musical battle of good and evil. But even if you’re not looking for a head-first trip into a different universe on your Monday evening, don’t let that Marvel-esque description scare you off. Aside from these over-arching concepts, Avenue East delivers the goods—beautifully written soaring hooks that are straight-up ear candy sprinkled on top of tasteful metal guitar leads

Show up early and catch two up-and-coming Northwest rock bands, the pop-punk/emo-centric Find Forever and groove-laden heavy rockers Steal the Fall.
