A tribute to David Bowie to raise money for a nonprofit organization that helps Puget Sound-area musicians gain access to healthcare? Thatā€™s a win-winā€”more ā€œHang On To Yourselfā€ than ā€œRock ā€˜Nā€™ Roll Suicide,ā€ to frame it in Ziggy Stardust terms. The concept involves linking legacy Northwest musicians with younger players from the region to homage musical icons, with proceeds going to SMASH (Seattle Musicians Access to Sustainable Healthcare).

Bowieā€™s catalog boasts so many fascinating facets that the show canā€™t help being a thrillathon. Curated by Black Fret, this yearā€™s lineup included Peter Buck (R.E.M., Filthy Friends), Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney, Filthy Friends), Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie), Jessica Dobson (Deep Sea Diver), Shaina Shepherd, Kurt Bloch (Fastbacks), Molly Sides (Thunderpussy), Jovino Santos Neto, and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam). One new twist to the event will be an afterparty at Madame Louā€™s featuring Boots! DJs Sarah Savannah and Maxwell Edison spinning ā€™60s soul and garage-rock 45s to get you moving and groovingā€”along with Bootsā€™ stable of go-go dancers.
