Robot apocalypse, family dynamics, and 2010s memes, oh my! 🌈

If I had ten seconds to convince you to watch The Mitchells vs. The Machines, would telling you that it includes…

📱 a murderous AI living in a cellphone, voiced by Olivia Colman

🚗 💨 quirky cross-country family road trip shenanigans

✨ a mid-air daughter/father battle-duet of “Live Your Life” by Rihanna and T.I.

… be enough?

If the answer is yes, then— lucky you— you can catch The Mitchells vs. the Machines at Maple Leaf Reservoir Park’s first outdoor movie night. It’s a whole event: there’ll be live music starting at 6 pm followed by movie trivia and then the movie.

While The Mitchells vs. the Machines has a lot of familiar movie tropes, it weaves it all together in a vibrant, heartfelt, and funny way (it has the same producers as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Lego Movie). So bring a blanket for that late-summer night chill and settle in. If you’re a movie-crier like me, maybe bring some tissues, too.

P.S. Also, sorry, but Monchi’s the only pup allowed at this movie—organizers have asked you to leave your family critters at home, please.
