Is coming to a town near you (this one) to tout his forthcoming album, Black Mona Lisa. I could list the accoladesāGrammy, Emmy, Tony; take ’em all, Billyābut there’s something in the boldness of being #thatbitch that makes it unnecessary. So let the fabulous godmother do their thang in the Late Baroque-styled beaded chandeliered ballroom that is the Paramount in downtown Seattle.
Anticipate a back-and-forth between pop, Broadway hits, and Pose tunes as Billy, backed by a full band, tells his story of being Black and gay in America. The 90-minute show will also feature a video installation as he burns through an over-30-year career. (And hopefully a return to ballads like “Love Is On the Way,” later covered by Celine Dion.) With the tour, Porter returns to music after making his directorial debut with Anything’s Possible, a teen rom-com about Kelsa, a trans girl in her senior year. In March, he released the album’s first single, “Baby Was a Dancer,” a high-energy clapback about a dancer who defies her haters.
