Too Late — You Missed It!

September 18 • 7 pm

The pandemic catapulted You’re Wrong About, the podcast all about righting historical wrongs, to name-brand-level fame, or at least New Yorker write-up-level fame. You’re Wrong About is hosted by Sarah Marshall, a Portland journalist whose career focuses on empathetically re-examining tragic figures such as Tonya Harding. Her former co-host, journalist and Seattleite Michael Hobbes, gravitates toward similar topics.

Marshall and Hobbes—now Marshall and a guest host—spend each episode rehashing their research from old documents, stories, and insights on specific events to shine new light on old perceptions. In a conversational and humorous way, You’re Wrong About encourages its listeners to consider all angles to popular, often-misguided narratives.

Think you know everything about Princess Diana’s death? You probably don’t. What about the D.C. Snipers? The Stanford Prison Experiment? The Donner Party? The Obesity Epidemic? Nope, there’s lots more to those stories.

For many of us living deep inside this cursed misinformation age, You’re Wrong About has been a helpful tether to reality, a reminder to value thoughtfulness over reactiveness, and that history—even our recent past—is absolutely bonkers.

With her pod’s continued success, Marshall is bringing the show to live audiences on an inaugural in-person tour of four West Coast cities. She’ll be at the Vera Project on September 18th at 7 pm—although tickets are, sadly, already sold out. If you’re one of the lucky ducks that snagged some, expect special guests (maybe former host Michael Hobbes? Or author, pop culture columnist and recent You’re Wrong About guest host Anne Helen Petersen??? Someone else from the Seattle area??) and musical performances. And if you’re not, you can always listen (or relisten) to the podcast in its original form.
