A visit to CafĂ© Nordo was like a trip through the looking glass. And indeed, over the years there have been a few Alice in Wonderland-themed shows at Nordoâs Pioneer Square venue. Not to mention Spaghetti Westerns, ghost stories, a tribute to German countertenor Klaus Nomi, and any number of murder mysteries. The space itself would transform into a dusty attic full of creepy dolls or an underground warren of delights. The immersive dinner theater experience extended to the foodstuffs and beveragesâyou might bite into something appears to be candy only to find out itâs chicken. If no theatrical extravaganzas were on offer, there were always wine tastings to attend.
But now the partyâs overâtemporarily. CafĂ© Nordo is on the move, searching for a new space that will better suit the needs of the companyâs ever-active imaginations. Nordoâs two venues, the Culinarium and the Knife Room are now closed while they seek out new premises. But you can still get one last taste of the old CafĂ© Nordo at a very special estate sale, where âbasically everything you have sat on, sipped from, or admired at Nordoâ can be yours. Meaning not just the costumes, but also dressing room tables and mirrors. Need a mobile coppertop bar? Glassware and silver? A brass wall sconce? Ice machine? Meat slicer? Youâll find much to peruse from the categories of Theater World, Restaurant World, and Kitchen World. Feast your eyes and name your price.
