A Chicago-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and general creative force, Nnamdi will bring his avant-pop rap to Seattle on Monday. Please Have a Seat, Nnamdi’s most recent album released on Secretly Canadian Records and his own Sooper Records, has a fresh production that highlights his rich lyricism. You might’ve seen Nnamdi opening for Wilco or Sleater Kinney with his previous work. Please Have a Seat is another leap forward for the artist, pairing his gorgeous falsetto with lush keys, hard guitar, and sticky bass lines. I thought it was one of the best releases of 2022.
Joining Nnamdi on tour is fellow Sooper Records artist and ChicagoanĀ Luke Titus, who creates percussively wild tunes that somehow still feel like pop music. (His last solo full length,Ā Plasma, is a good introduction to his specific style.) Primarily a drummer, but proficient at many instruments, Titus is a little bit of aĀ prodigy. In high school, he earned a place in the Blue Man GroupāYes, that oneā¦ Outside of the slight absurdity, the Blue Man Group is a tough percussion ensemble to earn a spot in. (Other big-name collaborators include Ravyn Lenae and Noname.) Fans of math rock, hardcore, and jazz will all find something in Monday’sĀ genre-bending performances.
