I could use a belly laugh right now, and comedian and writer Jes Tom really knows how to serve one.

From describing what it’s like starting testosterone right before quarantine to relaying wild stories from their time working at a luxury sex shop on the Upper East Side (see above), Tom hilariously parses the contemporary trans, queer, Asian experience for nuggets of comedic gold

“My pronouns are they/them. I like when people call me they–it makes me feel less lonely,” they say at the top of one of their shows. Which, same. Out in the world, they work as a story editor on the wildly popular Max show Our Flag Means Death and have appeared in shows like the beloved Tuca & Bertie and Love Life. Vulture listed Tom as one of the Comedians You Should and Will Know in 2021, which rings true, as they have already sold out one of their two shows in Seattle. (So hop on it!)

Tom’s sets are laidback and sharp as if they are your long-distance best friend in town for the weekend, cracking jokes about their Grindr hookups and the joyous perils of being in a non-monogamous relationship. And, lucky for us, Seattle drag diva Kylie Mooncakes is opening for Tom. Don’t miss this!
