British comedian/YouTube phenom Daniel Howell really leans into funny fatalism with his “We’re All Doomed!” tour. Somehow, though, Earth’s demise doesn’t seem so tragic when a 31-year-old gay bloke discusses it with a plummy British accent and over six million YT followers. It’s actually cozy listening to Howell wittily wax apocalyptic about humanity’s lethal foolishness. You sense he can help us cope with doom by rubbing our faces in the hard facts about the mechanisms of our downfall, and then inducing cathartic laughs that temporarily assuage our recurring panic attacks.

Howell told Variety Australia, “We all
look at the news, have a bit of an internal panic, and then we all get dressed for work and pretend that everything’s normal while there’s rising sea levels and bees falling on the floor. But I feel like we all just need to have a moment of radical acceptance, where we just put everything out on the table and maybe make a few inappropriate jokes.” That such dark humor springs from such a fresh-faced individual somehow makes these bitter truths more palatable. Gotta laugh to keep from crying, potentially for infinity.
