Goodwill’s great grandpappy, the good, old reliable garage sale, is a summer staple. Especially when roaming for trash-turned-treasure is a turn-on. On the second Saturday, every May since 2005 (except in 2020 and 2021… for obvious reasons) West Seattle becomes “Western Washington’s garage/yard/etc. sale capital” for a day. This year, West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day kicks off Seattle garage sale season on May 13th, so roll up your sleeves and prepare to rifle through your neighbors’ belongings. Because let’s face it—everyone trapped on that island (ok, we know it’s a peninsula) otherwise known as West Seattle probably has a lot of baggage. Which for you means killer deals.

Sales run from 9 am to 3 pm, but some may start sooner and/or end after. A map of locations is available on West Seattle Blog. Since there are over 400, I’d recommend studying that and developing your plan of attack first. Or if you’re more of the spontaneous type, make a day of traipsing all over West Seattle with wild abandon. Whether it’s a yard, garage, or living room sale, you’re sure to score, and for added entertainment, you can try to spot the best yard sale sign. Or make a scavenger hunt list ahead if you wanna get your game on. Oh, and when you inevitably work up an appetite, I heard that Dicks will be slangin’ burgers at Highland Park Corner Store.
